In article within the conducted researches approaches to definition of integration of economic entities are analysed as in the Russian, and foreign scientific literature, in particular such concepts as "corporation", "metacorporation", "the integrated corporate structures", "the integrated economic systems", etc. are considered. The hierarchy of the integrated structures reflecting essence of the concept "the integrated industrial structures" and allowing to define them as difficult economic structure is offered. On this basis author's definition of the integrated industrial structure is presented. The principles of functioning of the integrated industrial structures are 156
